On March 29, 2010, Dreams for Kids and Monday Night with the Kids hosted an event at Clara’s House in Chicago, Illinois. Clara's House is a nonprofit organization that serves as a shelter for battered women and their children. Founded by Mrs. Clara Kirk, Clara's House has been helping those in need since 1983.
Special guests included the local alderman, retired Chicago Bears NFL Player, Jerry Azumah, and a Cook County Sheriff Chief. The Children were treated to pizza courtesy of American Street Mortgage and ice cream courtesy of dairy queen. The children enjoyed playing wii baseball, rockband 2, and enjoying other activities like simon says.
Special gifts were also raffled to the children throughout the night including American Girl dolls and several Chicago Bulls tickets courtesy of the team.
Dreams for Kids is a volunteer based, registered non-profit 501(c)(3) children’s charity that breaks down social barriers and end the isolation of children in need. Dreams for Kids empowers youth who live in poverty and those with disabilities, by uniting them with their peers, recognizing their abilities, and allowing their voices to be heard. The most isolated young people from every community are reminded they have something to give, and they are the solution- not the problem.
Monday Night with the Kids is an organization founded to help children from underprivileged areas by providing exciting experiences with positive male role models. Teaming up with community centers and tutor programs, MNWK offers unique opportunities for the children in the centers and programs to interact with celebrities and entertainers. Through these events MNWK aims to provide children with a safe retreat and exciting new experiences.
